"Nostalgia 2009"
LNMIIT celebrated Nostalgia 2009 on 18th April, 2009, the farewell function for the graduating students. His Excellency, Shri S K Singh, Governor of Rajasthan was the Chief Guest. We had several other distinguished guests, including Mr. Vijay Bhatnagar, CEO of ArcelorMittal India, Mr. Inderjit Khanna, ex-Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, Mr. Matthew, Principal Secretary, Finance, Govt. of Rajasthan, who is also a member of our Board, and many more.
The Governor talked of many things, including the recent economic crisis. He felt that the reason for the crisis was greed and selfishness of men. He mentioned that going forward, society has to realize that unselfishness is the best form of selfishness. Elaborating this, he said that only if your neighbors are happy and contented and at peace, can you be happy and conted and peaceful. Hence it is important to have inclusive growth both at a society level within a nation, and also across nations. He emphasized on the transition from violence to non-violence, competition to cooperativeness and from lies to the absolute truth. Instead of being only technocrats, he encouraged the students to have a holistic view of the world once they enter their professional lives.
The Governor was scheduled to sp only 45 minutes at LNMIIT. But when one of the graduating students requested him to stay for some more time to at least see a part of the cultural program, he graciously agreed to their request and spent an additional 45 minutes with us. The cultural program d entries from all the cultural clubs on the campus - skits, nukkad natak, dances, western and indian music, songs, etc. Despite the program clashing with the inaugural matches of IPL, the student body was present in full strength in the multi-purpose hall where the event was held.
