The LNMIIT is known to be an institution of higher learning that celebrates merit, diversity and equality. It was founded in the late 2002 as a joint venture in the private-public-partnership mode as a collaboration between the Government of Rajasthan and the Lakshmi and Usha Mittal Foundation of the well-known industrialist and philanthropist Mr. Lakshmi Niwas Mittal. As of this writing, through the Quantum Leap initiative, the Institute aims to be transformed into a purposive research university with due emphasis on research, teaching-learning, entrepreneurship, deep engagement with industry and outreach.
